Tutor for Computer Science Instructional Laboratory (CSIL) (aka MacLab)

We are looking to hire first or second year undergraduates interested in providing a production service for the laboratories and general users of our Macintosh and Linux facility.

This is an especially exciting time to work at the Lab as we are currently planning to move and expand the entire Lab facility from A-Level in Regenstein Library to the first floor of Crerar Library in Summer 2013. Next summer will be a great time to work building the new Lab. Prospective tutors willing to work next summer (June through September) would meet a significant job qualification.

Qualified Work-Study students are encouraged to apply.

Work Activities include:

Providing friendly and supportive user help for application and hardware use on our Mac Pro OS X and Linux Ubuntu workstations through regular service-desk shifts.

On site and remote administration and maintenance of over 100 floor machines. This includes keeping software updated and working, checking for hardware failures, etc. We also run a number of services that are available for lab use, such as statistics gathering, and others which are available to the public such as open seat monitoring and screen sharing.
